Toxicology and Environment

The potential for biomedical application and massive industrial production of carbon nanomaterials motivates the INCT Nanocarbono to also assume an agenda of environmental responsibility and for the health of people who produce, handle and consume goods and substances that contain nanomaterials. Part of the institute's team is dedicated to studies related to the toxicity of carbon nanomaterials, thus identifying and updating procedures to prevent possible risks to health and the environment.

This type of study is important because it allows evaluating the applicability of these nanostructures in biological tests, as well as possible environmental damage that may be caused by these materials.
