Basic Science and Characterization

Understanding the fundamental properties (electronic, optical, structural, mechanical and chemical), as well as the characterization of the structure, the presence of defects and the effect of the environment on carbon nanomaterials are essential for their applications. There is also the development of theoretical models and computational simulations on these materials – which makes it possible to explain observed phenomena and processes, and to anticipate applications not yet envisaged.
