Marcos A. Pimenta holds a degree in Physics from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (1980), a Master's degree in Physics from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (1983), a PhD in Sciences from the Center de Recherches sur la Physique des Hautes Temperatures - CNRS, France (1987 ) and postdoc at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 1997-98. He was a full professor at the Department of Physics at the Federal University of Minas Gerais and is a CNPq 1A researcher. Has experience in optical properties of materials, working mainly on the following topics: nanomaterials, graphene, nanotubes, Raman spectroscopy, two-dimensional crystals and structural phase transitions. He was one of the creators and first coordinator of the Center for Technology in Nanomaterials (CTNano) at UFMG from 2010 to 2020. He is a full member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences and of The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS). He received the following distinctions: Scopus-CAPES 2008 award, Somyia award 2009 from IUMRS (International Union of Materials Research Society), TWAS award in Physics 2013; Marcos Mares-Guia Award 2014 from FAPEMIG; Commander (2010) and Grand Cross (2018) of the Order of Scientific Merit; CAPES Theses Award as advisor in Physics (2007 and 2018) and in Engineering IV (2018). He was the president of the Brazilian Society of Physics from 2017 to 2019. He is currently the coordinator of the National Institute of Science and Technology (INCT) of Carbon Nanomaterials

Born in Ivorá-RS, she holds a bachelor's degree in Physics (1998), a Master's degree (2000) and a Ph.D. in Physics from the Federal University of Santa Maria (2003). She is currently Full Professor and Vice-Rector of the Franciscan University (UFN). She has already worked at UFN as coordinator of the Graduate Course in Medical Physics (2004-2006), Coordinator of the Master's Degree in Nanosciences (2006-2008) and Pro-Dean of Graduate Studies, Research and Extension (2008 to 2018). He is a CNPq research productivity fellow at level 1D. It has an H factor equal to 26, around 2700 citations of articles and with more than 130 articles published in international and national journals (Source - Web of Science ResearcherID AAY-1061-2021). She is a reviewer for international journals: Physical Review B, Chemical Physics Letters, Journal of Physical Chemistry B, Physical Review Letters and Nanotechnology. He has experience in the area of Physics and Nanosciences, working mainly on the following topics: 1D and 2D nanomaterials, density functional theory, in addition to the area of Teaching Physics, Teaching Nanosciences and with the development of virtual learning objects, as well as working in science and technology dissemination projects. Coordinated the Network of Innovation Centers in Nanocosmetics SIBRATEC/MCT (2010-2014). It is part of the Strategic Committee of INOVA-RS Centro/RS Region. In 2006 she won the L'oreal Prize for Women in Science in the field of Physics. He is an affiliate member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences (2017-2020).
